School-aged children can receive free resources including immunizations, sports physicals, and vision and dental screenings this weekend.

Covering Kids and Families of Health and Hospital Corporation will host the annual Back to School and Community Resource Day on Saturday, July 12, from 8:30 a.m. till noon. The event will be at the parking lot of the Marion County Public Health Department at 3838 N. Rural Street.

School-aged children attending will receive a complimentary backpack filled with school supplies. There will also be diaper giveaways and free car seats.

Birth certificate services will also be available at no cost for the first 100 kids.

Resources are given on a first come, first served basis, so the organizers encourage families to arrive early.

“We are so excited to celebrate our 25th anniversary with the community,” said Pamela Humes, director of Covering Kids & Families of Health and Hospital Corporation, in a press release. “This event has a long history of serving families and offering free resources in one location that are crucial for making sure our kids are prepared for school. What we do is not possible without the continued support of sponsors, volunteers and everyone who attends.”
