The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured three people, including a man who was shot by an off-duty IMPD officer, according to police.

Dozens of community members expressed frustration toward law enforcement’s attempts to explain the complex process of what comes after an officer shoots a person.

An IMPD officer shot a man on the northwest side of Indianapolis on Sunday night. The man was reportedly having a mental episode and was threatening family members and officers with a machete.
