Legislation passed the Indiana Senate Tuesday that would alter funding requirements for IndyGo.

The measure would allow the attorney general to get a special prosecutor appointed if local prosecutors say they categorically wont charge people for certain crimes.

Under the bill, the governor could only declare a widespread emergency -- like during the pandemic -- for a maximum of 60 days, with some legislative involvement.

Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) said the improving COVID-19 numbers across the state prompted the change.
