An auto theft suspect fatally shot by an officer had produced a weapon at the end of a brief, high-speed pursuit, suburban Indianapolis police said Friday.

Indiana is withdrawing from purchasing land for a fourth port. This comes three years after an agreement to potentially purchase the land was first signed.

The Ports of Indiana entered into an agreement in 2017 to reserve the option to buy up to 725 acres near Lawrenceburg, just west of the Indiana-Ohio state line.

Indiana currently operates Ohio River ports in Jeffersonville and Mount Vernon and a Lake Michigan port at Burns Harbor.

The Main Ash Pond, owned by Tanners Creek Development LLC, is a "legacy pond" - which means it's located at a closed down power plant.

Law enforcement agencies in the cities of Franklin, Jeffersonville, Lawrenceburg and East Chicago and Harrison County each received more than $11,000 in funding.

A commercial real estate firm purchased Indiana Michigan Power's former coal plant in Lawrenceburg in southern Indiana and is working with the Ports of Indiana to see if it could be a viable option.
