Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis plans to use a $3.7 million grant from the National Science Foundation to grow its fledgling cybersecurity degree programs.

With the help of a more than $2 million grant from the National Science Foundation, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis is partnering with food companies and other universities to research insect farming.

A former Purdue University professor and his wife have been sentenced to probation and ordered to pay a combined $1.6 million in restitution after pleading guilty to using more that $1 million in federal research funds for their own personal expenses.

Federal prosecutors say the professor admitted using $1.3 million in National Science Foundation funds for personal and family expenses.

Purdue officials insist it wasn't a conscious choice to avoid charged terminology, like hydraulic fracturing or fracking.

A $5 million grant from the National Science Foundation designates IU's Center for Trustworthy Scientific Cyberinfrastructure as a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence that will help solve the computer and software security challenges.
