Citizens Energy Group says the lane closure is between Central and Park avenues and is expected to last until Sept. 2.

The Indiana Department of Transportation said the northbound Binford Boulevard on-ramp to westbound I-465 is scheduled to close Tuesday morning.

State officials want Hoosiers to be extra cautious on the roadways as road construction season gets underway.

The Department of Public Works is investing $6.5 million in the effort that includes new roadway, divided medians, sidewalks, trees and a multi-use path.

The $6.73 million project will fund infrastructure improvements, such as new storm pipes, manholes and curb inlets, from College to Primrose avenues and include a new "River Walk" that will connect Broad Ripple Park to the Monon Trail.

Gov. Eric Holcomb, state lawmakers and Indiana Department of Transportation officials opened the northbound section of the highway with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Martinsville. Southbound lanes are expected to open later in the week.

Last January, the Indiana Department of Transportation began the final push in its I-69 Finish Line project – converting State Road 37 north of Martinsville into an interstate highway that will eventually connect with I-465 in Indianapolis.

Downtown Indianapolis commuters will see temporary street and lane closings around the Methodist Hospital campus.

Nearly half the new money will go toward connecting I-69 to a new Ohio River bridge being built near Evansville, in conjunction with Kentucky.
