Naptown Legends: Carl Perkins Pt. 1

For the next two weeks we’ll pay tribute to the legendary Indianapolis jazz pianist Carl Perkins. A star on the Avenue music scene during the late 40s and early ‘50s, Perkins left Naptown for California, becoming a significant player in the West Coast cool jazz scene. Perkins died tragically young, but he made dozens of recordings during his short life, and appeared on sessions with jazz greats.
