Ranelin is best known for his work with the Tribe, a radical Detroit jazz collective that mixed music with social justice. But Ranelin's career began in Naptown, performing with local jazz greats like Wes Montgomery, Dave Baker, Larry Ridley, and Melvin Rhyne.
