Indiana’s 24 state parks and eight reservoirs will remain open during the federal government shutdown. Hoosiers that have reservations or plans to visit parks in the near future don’t need to worry about any interruption in services. User fees and state tax dollars fund Indiana’s park system.
October is a busy month for Hoosier state parks as the fall colors start to appear. "We have all sorts of activities at our properties." says Ginger Murphy, assistant director of stewardship for DNR State Parks & Reservoirs.
The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore will be closed as a result of the shutdown. The Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in Clay and the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Vincennes will also be closed as a result of the shutdown.
