Hoosier Part Of One Campaign

Paul Morrison is one of hundreds in Washington D.C. for the annual One Power Summit.  He will meet with Indiana lawmakers and join other One members supporting American foreign assistance programs that help save lives around the world.

Morrison says a key topic at this year's summit will be the Electrify Africa Act that would bring universal energy access to the continent and help millions escape energy poverty.

"They don't have the power to operate things we take for granted like radios and telephones," says Morrison.

For less than one percent of the U.S. budget, American assistance is provding children's vaccines, anti-malarial bed nets and programs that help people lift themselves out of extreme poverty.  Morrison says he will point that out when talking to Indiana legislators.

"Helping people in continents like Africa, and countries in Africa, become more self-reliant makes them able to buy things we make right here in the Hoosier state," says Morrison.

The One Campaign is a bipartisan advoccy group co-founded by U2 singer Bono.  There are over 1.7 million members in the United States.
