INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Sen. Dan Coats of Indiana has been named to the whip team for the U.S. Senate Republican caucus.
Coats was among 11 senators named Tuesday to the team that includes Majority Whip Sen. John Cornyn of Texas and Chief Deputy Whip Sen. Mike Crapo of Idaho. Republicans formally assumed the majority in the Senate on Tuesday.
Coats said he is looking forward to a fresh start with a new Congress. He said he hopes the Senate returns to regular order and is productive again.
