A new Gallup poll shows that Americans believe that the so-called Islamic State – also known as ISIS or ISIL – poses the greatest threat to American interests in the next decade.
With President Obama seeking authorization for military action against ISIS, and the high profile of the group’s brutality – including the beheading of Indianapolis native Abdul Rahman Kassig last year – Americans are understandably worried.
David Carlson, a professor of religion and philosophy at Franklin College, says that the Shia Muslim minority remains that group’s real target.
Carlson has been following the group closely and giving public talks around Central Indiana on “what Americans need to know about ISIS.” He’s speaking Thursday at 6 p.m. at Christian Theological Seminary. More details are here.
