As Gov. Mike Pence announced his reelection bid Thursday, he struck back at his critics while acknowledging some blame for the religious freedom bill controversy.
The last few months of Pence’s term have been marked by controversy and criticism, from the proposed state-run news service to his handling of the religious freedom bill. And state Democratic Party Chair John Zody says Pence’s actions have left the Hoosier middle class angry.
“Indiana families want to see solutions and they’re tired of the mismanagement and out-of-touch policies of the Pence administration,” Zody said.
But Pence says he’s proved that Republican leadership works; and is ready to, in his words, take on those who would misrepresent his record and trash Indiana.
“If our opponents choose to talk about our record, we’ll return the favor and we’ll make sure by Election Day that the choice is clear,” Pence said.
Pence is currently unopposed in the GOP primary.
