Indiana will receive more than $18 million a year, for two years to address the opioid epidemic. The funds are part of a $1 billion package announced this week by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, or HHS.
In a statement HHS Secretary Alex Azar said, "The more than $1 billion in additional funding that we provided this week will build on progress we have seen in tackling this epidemic through empowering communities and families on the frontlines."
Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration will use the funds to support services including treatment, prevention and recovery.
