In November of 2023, the Spinners were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The group is known worldwide for their classic soul hits - but very few music fans know about the Spinners’ Naptown connection.

Spinners’ co-founder Billy Henderson born in Indianapolis in 1939 and the Spinners maintained a strong connection to the city throughout the years.

For the next two weeks on Echoes of Indiana Avenue we’ll be joined by two Indianapolis music legends who were part of The Spinners: Allen “Turk” Burke, who worked as a keyboardist and music director with The Spinners for over 25 years; Rodney Stepp, who served as keyboardist and assistant music director for The Spinners from 1974 until 1981.

Stepp and Turk will share their memories of performing with the Spinners and discuss the Indianapolis musicians who contributed to the group’s legacy
