Many people believe we have a hate crime law in Indiana and are surprised to learn we are one of five states that do not. Prosecutor Curry is a member of a coalition advocating for a change in Indiana law this year that would include a provision regarding bias or hate motivation to an existing list of aggravators that a prosecutor can present to the judge during a sentencing argument (after the conviction is entered by trial or plea agreement).
