Tab Recreation 90th Anniversary Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, still located at 34th and Central, started a recreation program for Indianapolis youth in 1924. More than 100,000 kids aged 5-14 have taken part in everything from football to track to chess.
Some well-know Tab Recreation participants are George Hill (Pacers), IUPUI bball coach Jason Gardner; Roosevelt Colvin (New England Patriots); Mark Clayton (Miami Dolphins); former governor Mitch Daniels, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, former state Rep Greg Porter.
