State lawmakers Wednesday heard a lot of support and a few fears about the local impacts of short-term housing rentals through platforms such as Airbnb.

The bill could come back on the floor before session ends.

Some local communities regulate or prohibit short-term rentals. But the proposed legislation would bar them from that, while establishing some guidelines.

Lawmakers approved the bill barring local governments from banning short-term rentals on its second attempt at passage in the House.
