A new grocery store aimed at addressing food deserts in communities of color recently opened on Indianapolis’ east side. The store known as Indy Fresh Market aims to provide accessible and nutritious food.

Hoosiers will see increased grocery prices ahead of the Fourth of July this year. According to the Indiana Farm Bureau, holiday groceries will be 8 percent more expensive than last year.

Josu 'Z' Barros and spouse Carrie Barros of Evansville, stock the fridge after a shopping trip. A family of six with four teens/preteens, they can't afford to waste food. Carrie said she often under-shops for groceries to avoid waste. Experts think many families have poor inventory management skills, which leads to food waste.
