The end of federal support will cut WFYI’s budget by more than $1.5 million — 11 percent of its total funding — and comes just months after Indiana lawmakers ended state support for public media.

The federal cuts total up to $13 million for the Indiana public media stations.

Hoosiers will see and hear changes in the ongoing coverage of state news after a team of local journalists was cut due to eliminated funding in the state budget.

WFYI swept the Investigative Reporting awards and won best National Feature among other honors at this year’s Public Media Journalists Association conference.
