Indiana Teacher of the Year

Megan Johnson was named the 2026 Indiana Teacher of the Year on Wednesday.

Graciela Miranda uses her own experiences as the daughter of Mexican immigrants to inform her teaching and was recently named Indiana’s Teacher of the Year.

Pike High School’s Graciela Miranda has been an educator for 23 years. She was recognized for her civic engagement, as well as connecting with students and families.

The finalists for Indiana Teacher of the Year are out, and several are from Marion County.

Eric Jenkins is an English teacher at Franklin Community High School in Johnson County.

The ten finalists come from suburban, rural and urban districts across the state.

The top 10 finalists have been announced for the 2023 Indiana Teacher of the Year. For over 60 years, the Indiana Department of Education has selected one teacher for the honor who has gone above and beyond to support and educate Hoosier students.

The Indiana Department of Education announced Tuesday that Tippecanoe School Corporation's Sharita Ware is the Indiana Teacher of the Year.

All Indiana teachers collectively won the 2021 Teacher of the Year in recognition of the challenges each face during the pandemic, the state education department said Tuesday.

Jerome Flewelling teaches advanced placement physics, mechanics and chemistry at Crown Point High School.
