Indiana War Memorial

Indiana leaders came together at the Indiana War Memorial to honor and celebrate veterans.

A Civil War museum has reopened in the Indiana War Memorial after having to move from its previous site at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in downtown Indianapolis because water leaks endangered the collection.

The memorial, located on West Ohio Street, already includes two steel beams from the World Trade Center that were donated 10 years ago. An 800-pound chunk of limestone from the Pentagon will be added.

The Indiana 9/11 Memorial in downtown Indianapolis detailed plans to expand the memorial that currently includes two steel beams from Ground Zero.

Indianapolis honored and remembered fallen service members today at its annual 500 Festival Memorial Service downtown.

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument's artifacts, including a cannon, were moved a few blocks north to the Indiana War Memorial.

The U.S. officially entered World War I on April 6, 1917, more than two and half years after the conflict began in Europe.
