The City of Indianapolis mailed 546 letters to flood-damaged households warning they may need new permits to repair, sparking confusion that the city acknowledges could have been handled differently.

Some Indianapolis residents who evacuated from flooding this weekend are advised to stay away from their homes until the city gives the green light. That could happen Monday afternoon or even Tuesday morning.
