A bill that would raise the floor for teacher pay in Indiana passed out of the Senate Education and Career Development Committee this week. Lawmakers disagreed on how much to raise the pay floor, but the bill still passed committee unanimously.

A measure proposed by state lawmakers and endorsed by the Indiana secretary of education would raise teacher pay to a minimum of $45,000 and provide teachers with up to 20 days of paid parental leave.
