In 2022, Indiana was ranked the third-worst state for maternal mortality in the country. From 2018 to 2022, for every 100,000 births, 30 women died. In an effort to combat these statistics, legislators recently proposed two bills regarding doula coverage.

Sen. Todd Young, R-Ind., has authored the America's Living Library Act with Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., and Reps. Stephanie Bice, R-Okla., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif., in a bipartisan move that would create biological datasets to support research and scientific advancements across medicine, agriculture and defense.

Food pantries in Indiana and across the country look to local grocers, college students, churches, K-12 schools, restaurants and bakeries for donations of food, or grow their own on rooftop gardens, or spend hours writing grant requests to stay afloat.
