A Day at the Roadshow: Antiques Roadshow Packs Newfields Grounds with Over 3,000 Roadshow Fans

On June 1, Antiques Roadshow made a stop in Indianapolis, Indiana for a day of appraisals at Newfields. There were over 3,000 people who attended the event throughout the day, all who had the opportunity to bring two items to be appraised. That is 6,000 stories that had the opportunity to be shared, and it was incredible to hear every single one. Here are some fun facts from the day:

  • ROADSHOW had almost 25,000 people from all over the country enter the sweepstakes for tickets to the Indianapolis event!
  • WFYI personally gave away around 600 tickets to community partners, donors through pledge and cultivation and a few lucky winners through a giveaway. We had 120 volunteers who helped with tickets, triage, photography and production. In addition, staff took the lead on hospitality, social media, a behind-the-scenes taping, recording attendee reactions, hyping and engaging with our fans and more!
  • There were 65 appraisers covering 23 specialties who participated in the day. The appraisers are not paid for their time and they cover the expense of travel and lodging. Just like those who volunteered and pledged for tickets, the appraisers have such a love for ANTIQUES ROADSHOW that they finance their own way!

ANTIQUES ROADSHOW filmed around 140 appraisals and from that, they will create 3 episodes that will air in early 2027 as part of their 31st season. While we don’t have air dates yet, you can be sure that we won’t keep them to ourselves! We will plan a special premiere event prior to the season’s release to thank you for your generosity and support of our station.
