Remembering Indy's Amusement Parks: White City

At the turn of the 20th century, Indianapolis had three amusement parks: Riverside, Wonderland and White City.  In a three part series airing Monday mornings at 7:35 and 9:35 a.m., 90.1 WFYI "Morning Edition" host Don Hibschweiler talks with local historian Connie Zeigler about the parks.  In part one, we learn about White City in Broad Ripple. The series covers Wonderland on June 16 and Riverside on June 23.

You can learn more about White City  here. Zeigler has also written a thesis on Indy's amusement parks, and you can read it  here.

The music in this segment is Scott Joplin's " Weeping Willow Rag."

Don Hibschweiler is 90.1 WFYI’s local host of "Morning Edition". Prior to joining WFYI, he was heard as a reporter and news anchor on WIBC in Indianapolis using the radio name “Don Riley”.
