SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Lights at the Brickyard is a 1.7 mile, drive-though light display with about 40 different scenes at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but IMS president Doug Boles says racing through this experience is not what’s intended.
“It’s important to take your time, enjoy those lights, enjoy those displays. If you have kids, they’re not going to want to go fast," he says. "They’re going to want to be pointing out – as you can see, you come in you see the Santa bowling. You’re going to see a snowman fight – all kinds of things that take place. You want to make sure you’re taking your time to see those,” Boles says.
Boles says the Speedway has partnered with some of the businesses and restaurants along Main Street in the town of Speedway to give discounts when people show their tickets.
“Main Street over the last five years has done some tremendous things and there are great restaurants, great opportunities to go eat," Boles says. "So we really want families to come out. Enjoy Lights and the Brickyard and then spend some time – have a drink, have some coffee, have some hot chocolate.”
Prices until Dec. 1, are $20 dollars for as many people as you can pack in a car. Hours of operation and further ticket prices available online.
