Charles Ellis, pastor of an Indianapolis church and state director of the Ten Point Coalition, died this weekend.

Ten Point is an anti-crime group known for its street-level engagement, particularly through safety patrols in high-crime areas. Ellis was executive director of the group before he was promoted to state director.

Congressman André Carson joined others honoring Ellis. Carson wrote in a tweet that Ellis will be remembered for his tireless advocacy on behalf of at-risk youth.

A prayer vigil will be held Tuesday night at 25th Street Baptist Church, where Ellis served as pastor.
