Indianapolis' Citizens' Police Complaint Office was created by the city 30 years ago to help guide people through the process of filing a complaint about a police officer. WFYI’s Jill Sheridan spoke with Director Gina Beaven by phone to learn more about the service and Beaven shared a first person story about why it is important.
The Citizens' Police Complaint Office and its board recently proposed changes to the city to improve accountability. They include the increase of time that complaints can be filed and to allow the complainant to testify at their review.
