City Invests In Campaign To Help Business And Hospitality Industry

Indianapolis city and business leaders announced a new economic restart program. The initiative will invest one million dollars in a marketing campaign aimed to encourage more Hoosiers to visit the capital city.

The initiative will highlight local restaurants, museums, small businesses and hotels. The effort includes half price hotel offers. City officials also urged people to support Black and Brown owned businesses.

“There is a huge amount of pent-up demand to enjoy cultural experiences and restaurants and travel,” said Visit Indy President Leonard Hoops.

Normally more than 80 thousand are employed by Indianapolis’s hospitality industry. Visit Indy estimates that more than 50 percent of those workers are currently unemployed.

The money will come from federal CARES Act funding allocated to the City.
