Marion County Fair rides were inspected Wednesday, before it opens Saturday. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security found no major issues.
“You want these rides inspected before you’re going to put your family or friends on any of these rides,” Elevators & Amusement Rides Section Chief Matt Conley said. “We just want to make sure everyone remains safe while they’re having a good time at the Marion County fair.”
Indiana Homeland security did discover minor issues on rides that will be addressed before opening day. No rides will be shut down.
This is the first inspection for a traveling show so far this year.
“We’ve been doing the inspections at the fixed sites as far as Indiana Beach and Holiday World earlier this year, but for traveling shows, this is our first,” Conley said.
People at the fair can also expect to see COVID-19 precautions, including hand sanitizing stations and social distancing in lines.
