A special prosecutor appointed to the Dreasjon Reed case has requested a grand jury. Madison County deputy prosecutor Rosemary Khoury was named special prosecutor earlier this summer.
Reed was shot and killed by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer Dejoure Mercer May 5 after a car chase that streamed live on Facebook. Protestors have demanded a transparent investigation, and Reed’s family filed a federal lawsuit against IMPD.
The grand jury will be able to consider any evidence that has been collected and decide whether or not crimes were committed in Reed’s death.
