Neighborhood Food Champions Are Sought

Applications are being acceptedfor the Neighborhood Food Champion program.  The opportunity is open to anyone aiming to address food security in Indianapolis.

Food champions chosen for the program will receive training to develop a food access project.  Proposals will be presented and receive $2,000 to launch.

The aim is to strengthen local food systems with targeted neighborhood solutions. The initiative was started in 2017, and funding comes from the Indy Food Fund, which supports long-term strategies to address food insecurity in Marion County.

Proposals could include affordable retail options or community gardens.  The program is held in partnership with the Office of Public Health and Safety and the Centers of Wellness for Urban Women. Applications are being accepted through the end of the month.
