Officials with an Indiana summertime favorite say the organization is going “full throttle” this year to make the event a memorable one.

The Indiana State Fair has announced this year’s theme will be “Celebrating Indiana’s Automotive Excellence.” Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Anna Whelchel said the decision to focus on Indiana's relationships with cars past and present was an easy one.

“Because of the rich history that a lot of us didn't realize, as well as the current state of the automotive industry in Indiana, and all the jobs that it produces is accountable,” Whelchel said. “It is an incredible story that we can't wait to tell this summer and celebrate at the state's largest gathering.”

Fair officials do not want to reveal the details surrounding this year’s theme just yet, but Whelchel said fairgoers will not be disappointed.

“We’re working with a lot of great classic car collectors. A lot of these vehicles that were made here in Indiana are great, amazing collections to be on display during the State Fair,” Whelchel said.

The fair dates are July 29 through Aug. 21.
