Four young women were shot along the Downtown canal early Wednesday morning. The women range in age from 17-24, all are in stable condition. The shooting happened near the Colts Canal Playscape on the north end of the canal. Police say another shooting near the canal involving a self-inflicted gun shot is not connected.
IMPD stepped up patrols and installed cameras along the canal following a rash of shootings in 2020 when two people died.
