Marion County’s youngest may now get a COVID-19 vaccination. The Marion County Public Health Department said the new pediatric vaccine for children 6 months through 4 years is available to families by appointment.
The CDC approved emergency use of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for babies and toddlers earlier this month, the last age group to be allowed the shot.
Dr. Virginia A. Caine, director and chief medical officer of the Marion County Public Health Department acknowledged some parents still have questions about the vaccine.
“I encourage parents and caregivers to talk to their health professionals to learn more about the benefits and the importance of getting them vaccinated,” Caine said.
Indianapolis residents may get the vaccination at health department offices, pediatric practices and Federally Qualified Health Centers.
Children 5-12 were approved to receive a booster shot last month.
