Teen shot and killed on city’s east side Tuesday

A teenage boy was shot and killed on Indianapolis’ east side early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the 6400 block of Meadowlark Drive around 1:30 a.m., where they found the teenager outside, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition but pronounced dead shortly after he arrived.

The case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information should contact IMPD Detective James Hurt at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or email him at James.Hurt@indy.gov.  They can also call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477 to remain anonymous.

The incident marks Indianapolis’ 119th homicide this year.
