A shooting occurred Sunday night in Beech Grove that left one person dead and three people injured. Police did not immediately release information about the victims or shooter.

One individual is in critical condition and two others are in stable condition, as of early Monday morning.

The Beech Grove shooting took place shortly after a mass shooting at the Greenwood Park Mall that killed three people and injured two before the shooter was shot and killed by an armed civilian.

Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley said at a media briefing Sunday night that elected officials need to act in light of recent violence.

“It's far past time that they do something to stabilize or eliminate this problem that we have. It played out again twice tonight,” Buckley said.

No information is yet available about the Beech Grove shooter. That incident took place at a park, located at 1100 S. 9th Ave, where a vigil was taking place. Police did not confirm what the vigil was for or if the shooting was related to that event. No more information is available about those involved or the context of the Beech Grove shooting.

The park will be closed Monday to the public. The incident is still under investigation and law enforcement officials are expected to provide more information to the public Monday.
