Boone County Council leader found unresponsive in pool and dies at a local hospital

Boone County first responders responded to the home of Councilwoman Marcia Wilhoite Sunday afternoon. They found her unresponsive in her pool and later died at a local hospital.

The vice president of the Boone County Council died Sunday in a possible drowning.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Marcia Wilhoite was found unresponsive in the pool at her home Sunday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital. 

The Boone County Sheriff's Office does not suspect foul play at this time but continues to investigate.

Wilhoite served on the council since 2005. She also served as a member and Secretary of the Boone County Redevelopment Commission, member of the Boone County REMC board of directors and member of the Boone County Solid Waste Board.
