Editor’s note: This story updated Aug. 31 with new information about FEMA events scheduled Monday, Aug. 31 through Saturday, Sept. 5.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, scheduled stops at multiple locations around Indiana to help impacted residents apply for assistance after historic flooding swept the state earlier this month. After Indiana received a federal disaster declaration, residents may qualify for individual assistance.
The events are intended for people who have not already applied for assistance online, or have questions to ensure they file applications correctly. Appointments are not required.
Delaware County:
- Delaware County EMS Station 3 on Friday, Aug. 28 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The address is 4501 E. Memorial Dr., Muncie, Ind. 47302. Residents should use the back parking lot and enter through the Training Center entrance.
Fayette County:
- Baptist Temple School on 1380 State Road 44, Connersville, Ind. 47332. This location started operating Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- UPDATE: Another event at Baptist Temple School is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Franklin County:
- The Metamora Church of God event was scheduled Friday Aug. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The address is 20146 U.S. 52, Laurel, Ind. 47024.
- UPDATE: Laurel Library Monday Aug. 31 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The address is 200 Clay St. Laurel, Ind. 47024.
Hamilton County:
- UPDATE: Hamilton County Fairgrounds, Expo Hall C, 2003 Pleasant Street, Noblesville, Ind. 46060 on Monday, Aug. 31. Hours of operation are scheduled 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Lake County:
- Multiple locations plan a total of nine events in Crown Point, Gary, Hobart and Munster, Friday, Aug. 28 through Saturday, Sep. 5. All locations and times are updated on a list here.
Madison County:
- UPDATE: City Hall Monday, Aug. 1 from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. The address is 120 E. 8th St., Anderson, Ind. 46016
Marion County:
- Broad Ripple Park Family Center Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The address is 1426 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis, Ind. 46220.
- UPDATE: Northside Event and Social Club Center on Wednesday, Sep. 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The address is 2100 East 71st Street, Indianapolis, Ind. 46220.

Marion County officials say they were told residents are not required to bring anything with them to register for assistance, but that additional information will help them move through the process.
"They do not need any documents but if they have access to those documents, they will speed the overall process as they will have to provide verification at some point. But they are not required to get registered and start the process," MESA Director Jacob Spence told WFYI in an email.
Craig Browning, a FEMA Region 5 spokesperson, said that if someone applies and receives a letter saying they are ineligible, that isn’t the end of the process.
“If you receive a letter from FEMA that states you’re currently ineligible for federal assistance, it is critically important that you read it from top to bottom, and then follow through and provide us with the documents that we’re requesting to move that application forward,” he said.
Impacted residents can also apply for assistance online at disasterassistance.gov.
