Indiana's primary election is Tuesday, May 5, when Republican and Democrat voters across the state pick the candidates to represent their party on the November ballot.
WFYI created this guide for key races on the primary ballot — from all nine of Indiana's congressional districts to contested state legislative seats and Marion County offices. Each page includes background on the race, what's at stake, and information about the candidates.
For every race included in the guide we reached out to candidates directly. When a campaign didn't respond we used websites and public statements to find information, so every name on the ballot got a fair look.
We also made a 2026 Election FAQ to help answer questions about how to vote.
