Live Storytelling Event To Celebrate IU Global Health Program In Kenya

INDIANAPOLIS -- If you like to listen to The Moth or TED Radio Hour shows on  90.1 WFYI, then you might want to attend Tusker Tales on Thursday night.

It’s a live storytelling experience presented by people who have spent time in Kenya as part of the IU Global Health Program AMPATH. They will share their personal stories of being in that country.

"Many of the stories that we hear on Thursday night are going to convey that theme of community," said Courtney Roberts with the Lilly Foundation.  "We have a fantastic lineup of storytellers each with their own unique and personal story of their time in Kenya.”

Roberts said her time in Kenya taught her just how much in common we have with people all over the world.

"No matter the circumstances in which you’re born or your location on a map, we’re all really the same, we’re all human beings," she said. "And we all want to be taken care of; we want our health to be taken care of; we want our social well being to be taken care of;  we want that for our loved ones and our families.”

The free event is from 6-9 p.m. at Buggs Temple, on the canal in downtown Indianapolis.  Reservations are required.
