This week local film lovers will have the chance to see work from the largest movie producing country in the world -- India.
Heartland Film is taking viewers on what it calls a “cultural journey.” President Craig Prater says the four-day celebration, Aug. 17-20, includes seven outstanding films.
“Certainly the diversity of film making from one country to another, but at the same time show the common denominator of an art form that there are certain things of similarity or similarities in culture that we find there are things that are more alike than different,” Prater says.
Six of the movies have subtitles but Prather says that shouldn’t keep viewers from attending the films.
“Some people read every single word, others are bouncing back and forth just visually getting the story line while others a kind of combined method of understanding the story,” Prater says.
Heartland Film brings more international films to the city during its festival, which takes place in mid October. Information on the India celebration at its website heartlandfilm.org
