He was born in Kentucky. He grew up in Indiana. He studied and settled in Illinois.

So, which state has the strongest claim to Abraham Lincoln?

The Indiana Historical Society will explore the century-old question about the 16th President of United States during a program featuring three experts who will guide a debate about which state has the strongest ties to Lincoln's legacy.

The panelists will include Chandler Lighty of the Indiana Historical Bureau, Thomas Mackey of the University of Louisville, and Samuel Wheeler of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois.

Searching for Lincoln is Thursday, Sept. 28 at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, 450 W. Ohio St. Admission to the program is free, but registration is encouraged due to limited space.
