IndyFringe Cancels Its 2020 Fringe Festival

Another major Indianapolis area arts festival won’t take place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

IndyFringe has cancelled its 2020 Indianapolis Fringe Festival. A press release from Executive Director Pauline Moffatt says concerns for the health and safety of performers, volunteers, staff and the nearly 20,000 audience members who attend the multi day festival led to the decision.

This year's festival was scheduled to take place Aug.13-23 in multiple venues along Mass. Ave. in downtown Indianapolis. More than 800 artists and 64 performing arts groups were set to perform live theater experiences of comedy, cabaret, magic, dance, drama and music. Moffat says those chosen for the 2020 festival will have first right of refusal to be part of the 2021 festival.
