While Garfield Park remained open for socially distanced visits, its community arts center closed in March due to COVID-19.
Kavita Mahoney manages the Garfield Park Arts Center, which is also part of Indy Parks. WFYI’s Jill Ditmire spoke by phone with Mahoney about the center’s online and social media presence and how that connection to local artists, musicians and community members helped them maintain a strong cultural presence until the center was able to reopen to the public on June 15.
Garfield Park plans to offer limited capacity summer arts camps for kids and adults. Information on requirements and dates are available on its website.
