The first of several episodes featuring homes in the Artist and Public Life Residency program in Garfield Park is set to air on the HGTV home renovation show, Good Bones.

The APLR program offers affordable housing for Indy creatives. Good Bones uses local art when staging homes for sale. The upcoming show features work from abstract artist Stuart Alter.

WFYI’s Jill Ditmire spoke with Alter about what it means to have his work featured on a national show in a home being designed for an artist.

The APLR program is spearheaded by Indianapolis nonprofit Big Car Collective as a way to use innovative approaches to create affordable housing and community involvement in the Garfield Park neighborhood. More homes will be featured in upcoming Good Bones episodes. Stuart Alter has a studio in the Stutz Building in downtown Indianapolis.

Jill Ditmire was no stranger to the broadcast world. Her face and voice were a daily part of the lives of viewers and listeners in the Midwest for 25 years.
