Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis is building a new Automotive Technology Center, in partnership with the City of Indianapolis and Community Development Entities.

The new, larger building will be located in the International Marketplace District.

“That area is up and coming," Ivy Tech Community College Chancellor of Central Indiana Dr. Kathleen Lee said. "There’s a lot of development going on, and it’s just sort of a natural synergy with our program.”

The new facility will house classrooms, training labs, faculty offices, student commons and corporate labs. Lee said it will allow the program to expand to diesel engines and electric cars.

“We want to be able to expand and offer all the programming that’s needed for students to be successful in the automotive technology area these days.”

Lee said the school’s automotive technology program currently has around 200 students. They hope to double enrollment with the new facility.
