INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Plans are being pushed back a year for construction of a permanent stage at the White River State Park amphitheater in downtown Indianapolis.
The White River State Park Development Commission says bids from contractors came in too high, causing it to delay the stage project until 2020. The Indianapolis Star reports the new stage is part of a $27 million renovation project planned for the outdoor venue.
The stage will continue being built in the spring and taken down in the fall. The park commission plans to seek new bids after redesigning the permanent stage.
Officials still plan for construction of additional restrooms next year.
Concert promoter Live Nation is paying for new fixed seating for 2,000 people, with private donations to pay for building a canopy over those seats.
